Dewatering Near the Ocean’s Edge: Ironclad Frac Tanks Support Construction of Underground Parking in Florida
Download Case Study PDFConstruction projects in Florida often require extra care and consideration — with a high water table, dewatering is a necessity before work can truly begin. In Delray Beach, mere feet from the ocean, plans were in place for a new hotel and underground parking deck, but would require more dewatering support than originally anticipated. When Ironclad got the call, we were quick to answer.
The Challenge
For a commercial project with a significant footprint (not to mention underground construction 15 feet below the surface), getting the site dewatered — and quickly getting the water transferred off site — was an essential need. Ironclad’s Auburndale, Florida, branch knew a fast response, delivery, and setup would be the key to sustained success.
The Response
Ironclad safely delivered four open-top frac tanks within three days of receiving the initial ask. With the high amount of groundwater to be removed, the tanks stayed on-site for six months as the construction team utilized 10 pumps to pull water into Ironclad’s containment assets around the clock.
The Outcome
Thanks to the quick and coordinated work of our Florida-based operations manager, yard tech, and drivers, the successful delivery and setup of our tanks set the construction team up for success throughout this stage of the build.
- All frac tanks stayed on-site for six months throughout the dewatering process.
- The construction team pumped groundwater into Ironclad assets around the clock, eventually filtering and recycling it before releasing it to a holding pond or safely back into the ocean.
